Embracing Joy

Everyone has a feeling for what brings them joy and meaning in their lives. Yet staying in touch with that joy isn't always so easy. We may make many decisions which take us away from pursuing our joy.

Joy is an innate part of our being. As we move up in consciousness we experience states of being that are blissful. To my body it seems like an never ending stream of life force that radiates exuberance and aliveness. To my emotions it seems like the love and acceptance that I have always longed for. To my mind it answers every question, and knows all. To my spirit, it says this is what I am, and I am filled with joy.

The essence that we are is joyous, and we have an inner remembrance of that joy which we try to recapture in our lives. It is unfortunate at certain points in our lives that we become disillusioned and separated from pursuing what brings us joy. We may think joy is for a few lucky individuals, or the idealized romantic relationship, not for the majority of people who have to go to work, support a family, and all the other responsibilities of adult life. Joy belongs to our childhood, to our innocence, our fantasy, and if we are lucky to our days off.

Each of us are unique divine beings. Soul plans for a lifetime may be simple in concept, such as a life of learning about compassion, but the details are the working out of our lives. Soul plans may also include releasing beliefs that have been collected through many lifetimes which are distortions of our nature as divine beings. One of the surest signs that we are following our soul path is the sense of rightness we feel about ourselves and what we are doing, and the joy and satisfaction that we feel from living. Joy and fulfillment are part of the ever expanding opportunities of life.

From my Soul:

Greetings. Greeting from those who wish for you to know that you are loved, that you are respected, that you are cherished for the monumental task of realizing your Divine I Am here upon earth. For bringing heaven to earth as it has been called. Of bringing soul purpose, soul understanding down into your wakening consciousness. Uninhibited expression which is in alignment with your being, with where you are at in the moment. Channeling through each chakra the quality, vibration, and intensity of expression which you are capable of bringing forth. Being sensitive to the right energetic quality, frequency, expression which is you in the given moment. It is indeed playful, can be playful.

We are responsive to creativity, imagination, joy, as well as mentality, purpose, and destiny. There is a great combination of mentality, creativity, joy, and feelings in bringing forth and evolving your beingness. You need your joy, your energetics, your sense of well being, and acceptance of yourself to continue to expand and lift yourself up. It is by your essence that you evolve, and it is by being yourself that you evolve and manifest in your third dimension all that you are--can be.

The guidelines for your own becoming, how you wish to live your life, what gives your life meaning, fullness, is the listening to that which brings you joy. This is a theme we return to, for it is intrinsic to the very nature of reality, of following your bliss. Following your bliss. This is what we wish to emphasize at this time, following your bliss.

This is how shall we say, a keynote for your being. This unlocks the wondrous being that you are, and allows the uninhibited expression of your being, and indeed expression of your being is very much what existence is about. This is true of the smallest endowed beings with consciousness, with life energy, to the highest levels of Source. As the God current flows through the universe it animates life, it is Life. And each has been created, or each of you created yourselves, or brought yourselves forth, or God dreamed you, not in a way that means etheric or unreal, but in the way that brings forth being. This is what you are. And by being what you are, you fulfill, and bring meaning, and evolve all at the same time. Now that is quite an accomplishment, is it not, to know, live, express your divinity in the moment?

Each of you will manifest that uniquely. Some are bakers, some are musicians, some are brick layers, some are mothers. You are child, you are adolescent, and you are an adult. You have expression in all phases, all aspects, all archetypes. You have gifts to bring forth. Your gifts are vehicles for expression, for learning, for growth. Tuning in to what brings you joy keeps you in alignment with soul. Life was created, intended as a joyous experience. This is a keynote.

The beliefs that have been cultivated in societies which suppress and inhibit being have diminished each of you. Each of you have feared, in some way, from being your true selves. It is complex. If we were to use color as an analogy, then the brilliant colors that you are have been dimmed. And that dimness or grayness has been created by a lack of belief in yourselves, in your fellow man, and in purpose upon the planet. A diminishment of love of God, of self, of love, of life, and others. Mistrust, ignorance, and fear have all contributed to the cultures and societies that you have.

This is being transformed. You as a world are seeking to lift the suppression and the poverty which has manifested both as a physical poverty and a spiritual poverty. The spiritual poverty is not just in beliefs about spirit, but a spiritual poverty is also an emotional poverty, boredom, drugs, alcohol, all which put you in a stupor. All which diminish your creativity, your enthusiasm. All which suppress your aliveness, your vitality.

We will say there is energy for each and all to be fully conscious realized beings, and to manifest that fully in harmony with your divinity and the full recognition of the divinity of all others. This at least is part of the collective goal of consciousness; the utopian idea which each man holds as the divine potential to be realized within your societies and cultures upon the earth. It is a hope, it is vision, it is a dream, and it is true.

Now what is each of your roles in bringing forth this transformation, both within yourself and your cultures, cities, towns, states, countries and planet that you live within? As each of you releases your fears, your judgments, you open pathways within yourself, for yourself. As you are fulfilled as a being you naturally extend that radiance, that fullness to your brothers and sisters, to all, and the earth.

Feel within yourself those moments when you are full, when you are grand within yourself, and we do not mean this in the way that implies inflation of ego. But full of your own beingness. I enjoyed playing music today, and I played well, and it was fun, and it was meaningful. I garden today, and my flowers are radiant, and their colors are brilliant and it makes me feel good. I enjoyed my walk with my friend today, and we discussed ideas that were important to us. Take note of these moments. How do you feel? How do you feel in relationship to other?

These are not moments of poverty. How can these states be continually regenerated within you? As the power of your own being is manifested, is there any desire to over power another? Is there any need to fill your coffers with abundance out of fear that you won't have enough. Or can each of you be full, and allow for your brother to be full, and his fullness will not risk your fullness.

Enjoy the inspiration and rapture of your being. Enjoy the enthusiasm and hope there is for your being and the earth. Enjoy the love that there is for all, and make that known to your being, and live from that which is the source of your being.

Life is created from that total place of joy, love, and intelligent sensitive creating. It is pure energy which is totally conscious and aware and creates out of the joy and spontaneity of it's own being. This is the divine life essence that leaps into form in response to the cosmic mind of beings who bring forth the divine plan and intentions of God or other beings who are capable of co-creating with the Divine Creator and realizing their being, such as you all wish to do. That is to realize who and what you are and express the divinity within you and this marvelous playground of creation: of spirit in matter.

Poem for My Mother

You are my mother

the woman who came to me

light-years ago in the open and deep sky

I am the star stabilizing the universe

breathing your soul and mine in unison

What drew you near was

the timelessness of yourself

recognized in my flowing light

In one breath you consumed me

carried me in every nerve of your being

Together we danced to pan pipes

and drums of the ancient people who

became your family when you touched earth

We sang in a language our blood

has know since the first moon

entered that sacred place

where we learned the melodies

from mountains and trees

To bear me was all you could do

to tame the wildness and passion of yourself

I was born when the wind rolled

through your body, a roar of flesh

rushing out of you

like currents of crystals fusing with the earth

I am your daughter, the woman

who recognized your flowing light

in the timelessness of a starry night

We have know each other forever

Go out on some clear starlit night and seek to realise that in the many thousands of suns and constellations visible to the unaided eye of man, and in the tens of millions which the modern telescope reveals there is seen the physical manifestation of as many millions of intelligent existences; this infers that what is visible is simply those existences who are in incarnation. But only one-seventh of the possible appearances are incarnating. Six-sevenths are out of incarnation, waiting their turn to manifest, and holding back from incarnation until, in the turning of the great wheel, suitable and better conditions may eventuate.

Realise further that the bodies of all these sentient intelligent cosmic, solar and planetary Logoi are constituted of living sentient beings, and the brain reels, and the mind draws back in dismay before such a staggering concept. Yet so it is, and so all moves forward to some unfathomable and magnificent consummation which will only in part begin to be visioned by us when our consciousness has expanded beyond the cosmic physical plane, and beyond the cosmic astral until it can "conceive and think" upon the cosmic mental plane. That supposes a realisation beyond that of the Buddhas who have the consciousness of the cosmic physical plane, and beyond that of the planetary Logoi. It is the consciousness and knowledge of a solar Logos.

To the occult student, who has developed the power of the inner vision, the vault of Heaven can therefore be seen as a blazing fire of light, and the stars as focal points of flame from which radiate streams of dynamic energy. Darkness is light to the illumined Seer, and the secret of the Heavens can be read and expressed in terms of force currents, energy centres, and dynamic fiery systemic peripheries.

This I would say concerning the vestments

of sanctuary, for my priests shall clothe

themselves in Me: My righteousness shall be

their protection, for no man bears witness of

Me until my splendor has absorbed him into

the glory of my radiance.

I dwell in the midst of mine anointed.

They are lamps unto the glory of my oil,

for I am a fuel rising up within them,

feeding the triple wick of their Divinity.

Unseen, I am the source of all things seen;

unfelt, unsensed, I am the power of feeling

and sensation.

I absorb mine elect into the effulgency

of myself, until their form and magnitude

can no longer be distinguished because

of the blazing brightness of my proximity.

Cast thyself, O son of man, into my

blazing Spirit. From my fire thou was born.

Return to it again--be joyously consumed

by the flaming soul of thy Creator.

Carla Martinez has been involved in the literary field as a poet, editor and publisher for over thirty years. She studied Ethnic Literature at University of California Santa Barbara and was the founder/director of the Santa Barbara Writers' Consortium.

She is the author of two chapbooks: Letting the Ghosts Out (1980) and Back into These Bones (1990). Her most recent collaboration is an anthology of poetry with John Sousa and Toni Wynn entitled Color Voices Place. She is currently at work on a book about healing from life-threatening illness and collaborating with California photographer Rick Bury on a book of Native American ancient rock art and poetry. She lives in Tucson, Arizona.
