The Process
From concept to construction
|
Architecture:
Architecture is defined as the art and science of building.
All buildings and structures start with an initial concept or idea.
The Architect's role is to transform those idea and concepts into a plan for construction.
This section outlines the process of working with the architect to achieve that result.
Permitting:
Local laws usually require that most construction comply with a number of criteria
for health, safety, efficiency, accessibility and community concern. Most
jurisdictions require that drawings be submitted for review and approval. This
section provides an overview of this process.
Construction:
With the proper approvals, construction can proceed. Carpenters, plumbers,
electricians, and a host of other skilled tradespersons all contribute to the
finished product. These tradespersons are coordinated by a general contractor or
construction manager. This section describes some of the
ways construction might be accomplished.
