This picture and previous: Seamount, the home of Mrs. Marnie Karran, who is the last of the Castletown Karrans still on the island. Now in her eighties, Mrs. Karran married into the family, but unfortunately knows almost no family history.

I forget why I took this picture, except perhaps to show that they don't build 'em like they used to.

The Cregneash Karran farmstead. This whole area of Cregneash is now a "museum village", showing how Manx folk lived in days of yore. Conversations with Uncle Stanley and John Qualtrough suggest taking it with a grain of salt.

Another Cregneash Karran house. This was the first in the village with a slate roof.

Tom 'Mooar' Karran's house, "mooar" being the Manx Gaelic word for "giant" --- Tom was a big fellow, and I hope to have a picture of him soon. Tom moved here from the farmstead a couple of pictures back.

Looking down on Cregneash. This land once belonged to the Cregneash Karrans, and was donated to the Manx National Heritage for the folk village.

This picture and the two following it are buildings on the site of the old Karran farmstead, Balingan. Unfortunately, restrictions on travel due to the foot and mouth outbreak kept me from getting a closer look.
