Renovation of the Belltown Cottages

November 2002

Getting started with Buchanan Construction. They completed the interior demolition of plaster and lathe, and removed the old roof shingles and blue tarps. The chimneys were all straightened and repointed. Jerry's Cottage, 2512A, in the back was raised up first from its original post and pier foundation. New concrete piers were formed and poured. The exterior wall framing and roof rafters were wrapped in plastic to keep out the weather. It was a beautiful warm sunny November.
New electrical and gas systems were begun. Fresh water supplies and sewer lines were brought up from from Elliott and Vine Street. The grounds were excavated and a new water drainage system was put on place. A cistern was buried near the P-Patch to hold roof water for use around the gardens. A catchbasin for drainage on the future Park space was installed.
