Let's get this over with: This is an ego-driven enterprise. Bad enough this Steve guy puts up his own Web pages, but now he's making everyone read about him. Well, then don’t read it. (Or, even better, read it and then criticize it! Tell me how self-centered I am.)

The basics: I'm from Seattle, born and raised, leaving only to get my degree in journalism from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. Since graduating in 1996, I've mostly worked in the tech industry. I live in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, where I frequent coffee shops, music stores, and pho restaurants. In my spare time, I read books and comics, take photos, play computer games, play with my two cats Lucy and Linus, listen to music, go on walks, go to live music shows, watch TV, go to movies. I do most of these things with my wonderful girlfriend Elizabeth.

The surest way to keep up with me (aside from, y'know, calling or writing or seeing me in person) is to check my Livejournal. I tend to post quite a few public entries there if you're not willing to create an account to read the protected ones.

I like the rain, a sure sign of a Seattle native, yet don't own any Gore-Tex™. I am Steve, and am at least a bit more interesting than this text indicates.

Friends

So, long ago I listed my friends here. For you kids, the "Friends" list was a relic of the mid-'90s personal Web page mania. In those heady days, everyone (and sometimes their pets) had Web pages, so you put up a link to your friends' pages. Unfortunately, while many net-savvy folks have either a blog or online journal, having your own URL is no longer universal.

I've found that I was leaving out people that I do consider friends, from people on LiveJournal, to co-workers, former co-workers, neighbors, college pals, people I see more often in the real world. The people I did have on this list only went to my Web pages or read my blog to see if I've libeled them (yet), and it was a pain to keep the list updated. (And when is it polite to drop someone from the list?) So, if you're my friend and don't have an online presence of some sort, I hope you know that I am still your friend even if you're not on my Web page!

Family

I have a cool family. My exception to the "what's the point in trying to keep a list of people updated on a Web page?" conundrum is the following list:

My Mom, Anne Mohundro, is the director of the Learning Center at Seattle University.   ...   My Dad, James J. Mohundro, is a project manager in the City of Seattle's Office of Housing.   ...   My sister, Leah Myungjin (Myung-Jin Lee) Armstrong (formerly Mohundro), was adopted from Seoul, Korea. She's currently expecting her first child, and is working and living in Redlands, California.   ...   Also: My Aunt Alice and Uncle John Graber live in Bellingham, raising my cousin Carl, who is nearly a teenager.   ...   Uncle Rick Pohl and Aunt Angi Blackwell live in San Francisco with my youngest cousin, Clare Marie Blackwell.   ...   Uncle Dennis Pohl lives with Grandma Eleanor Pohl in Rochester, N.Y.   ...   Uncle John and Aunt Helen Pohl live in Montreal, Quebec. Their children, cousins Leatha, Ula, Nyssa, Arden, and Emilie live relatively close by.
