I bring a sketchbook along when I go to comic book conventions. It gives me a reason to make conversation with some of my favorite artists and watch them work. This is my third sketchbook (fourth, technically). The first and second were unthemed. The third was my "time" sketchbook, which I abandoned just to try something new.

This one is a little less esoteric, I suppose. Music. I initially thought that a lot of artists just couldn't wait to draw a guitar, but the theme seems to be working out pretty well so far. I'm hoping to get some interpretations of album covers and portraits of personal music heroes, tubas and turntables, Amadeus Mozart to Frank Zappa.

"Time Pieces" is my "time"-themed sketchbook. These sketches were collected beginning in 2000 through 2004.

"Sketchy Characters" is my unthemed sketchbook. This was my first cartoonist sketchbook, and as such it is unthemed but leans toward characters and artists I particularly enjoy.
