Heart Transplant

Not having anymore 67-72 trucks and still liking them, I decided to go shopping. I wanted something original and somewhat stock looking. I really like rally wheels. So I found an Orange and white 71 long bed two wheeler in good shape. I drove it and it seemed solid...so I bought it. Not soon after I decided it needed more power so the quest was on. What was the best bang for the buck. After looking at several places and spending quite a bit of time on the forum...I decided a 502 would do the trick. Not to summarize the whole story, but I finally got everything put together. Though I am still working through some gremlins, the ZZ502 rocks.
A pic of the interior after I bought the truck...I replaced the seatcovers and installed a tachDSC00005.JPG (89472 bytes). It came with an in dash CD player and 6.5" components installed in custom lower door panels. The day my ZZ502 arrived...in it's true crate form!

The truck as I bought it...with rally wheels and the tired, and stock 350.DSC00001.JPG (91598 bytes) DSC00026.JPG (94757 bytes) I decided to run the tailpipes out the back under the bumper...I found the tips at Midas. However, I went to an all new 3" exhaust with hidden pipes after my ZZ install.

It went very smooth, just had to shorten the driveline. For those looking to know what all had to be done to install this into s small block truck..here is the list:

Other changes I made to the truck:
Big Block Towers, rubbers and mounts Rebuilt 10SI internally regulated alternator with parts from Alternator Parts. They have a good informative site about the different alternators and I recieved great service from them.
Big Block power steering pump, brackets and pulley's I also used a conversion plug to elikinate the external regulator...I purchased it from M&H
Electric fuel pump, regulator and filter with dual feed line (Holley Blue pump) The truck came with 15X8 and 15X10 rally wheels but I wanted chrome so I went to the folks at Wheel Vintiques and ordered a new set. You can see them on the wheel and tire page.
New radiator, mounts and rubbers (with dual electric fans of course)..all BeCool components from Summit Racing. With the addition of my new motor, I also needed a tachometer. I found one from Sun that has a shift light and fit perfectly in the stock tach opening in the dash. After some modification of the cluster I had installed and working.
Headers (which of course means new exhaust) New seat covers (for the short term) were in order and found these to be inexpensive and very comfortable.
Shortened driveline

Here is a pic of it lowered via Photoshop thanks kindly to Alexis at the 67-72 Forum.
