Ttto "Don't Push That Button", Duane Elms
The Æsir held a party where everyone of worth
Could step right up and try their throwing arm,
For they had gotten promises from every thing on earth
Never to do Baldur any harm.
So everyone was jolly as every axe and spear
`Flew straight toward the god and veered away
Until blind Hodur toed the line with Loki standing near
And no one watching had the wit to say:
Don't throw that missile!
Hodur, no, don't throw that missile, that mistletoe!
It's Loki who just gave you that sharpened piece of wood.
He's always up to something and it's usually no good.
Don't throw that missile!
Hodur, no, don't throw that missile! The mistletoe
Never made the promise, and if you throw that dart
It's pretty sure to pierce your brother's heart.
But Hodur threw the missile, because nobody knew
That Loki had arranged the whole affair.
He guided Hodur's throwing arm, the dart went straight and true
And killed poor Baldur standing smiling there.
The party went to chaos and Loki went to ground
To wait it out as he had done before.
But now the gods were furious, they didn't mess around,
They caught him and they chained him to the floor.
He made that missile,
Loki made that deadly missile of mistletoe.
He wanted Baldur murdered by his brother's hand,
He wanted fear and chaos but he got more than he planned.
He made that missile,
Made poor Hodur throw that missile, mistletoe.
Loki's locked in prison, in torment every day
But Baldur's dead and now there's Hel to pay.
Now all Asgard knows there's Hel to pay.
