Katzenminz', du Götterfunken,
Tochter aus Elysium,
Wir betreten feuertrunken,*
Himmlische, dein Heiligtum.
Deine Zauber wild zerstören
Was der Mensch gebunden hat;
Alle Katzen gerne hören
Auf dein starkes Lustdiktat.

* Originally "Vir betretet feuertrunken", in honor of the fancat Vir (or, if you want to be formal, His Imperial Majesty Vir Catto), whose name sounds exactly the same as German "wir" ("we").

Catnip, thou divine spark,
Daughter of Elysium,
Drunk with fiery rapture, heavenly one,
We approach thy shrine!
Thine enchantments fiercely destroy
What Man has bound together;
All cats happily obey
Thy forceful command to pleasure.
