Al Amarja (Fiddler on the Edge)

ttto "Anatevka" from Fiddler on the Roof
from an idea by Jeremy Z. Mandel

Based on the role-playing game "Over the Edge" (copyright Atlas Games) and the collectible card game "On the Edge". The history of the fictional island nation of Al Amarja allows the "j" in the name to be pronounced either as in Spanish, which is like an English "h" but rougher, a little like the "ch" in "Bach" or "chutzpah"; or as in Arabic, which is the same as English "j".

"Burger" is Al Amarjan patois for "newcomer".

Al Amarja, Al Amarja,
I've enjoyed paranoid Al Amarja,
Where else would intrigue be so hot?

Al Amarja, Al Amarja,
Anarchists! Dadaists! Al Amarja,
where everyone is in a plot.

Once I was a burger in this island state,
now I am an instrument of Fate
in Al Amarja...

I belong to Al Amarja,
privileged, On-the-Edge Al Amarja,
weird little country, little game of mine.
