Jericho

Llamas are very intelligent animals. If you get them to do something 3 or more times, they know what to do. We have taught our llamas the word 'Halter' to put on a halter and 'off' to take it off. It has made life a lot easier.

We have ventured into unknown waters with shearing and trimming toe nails. Ahhhh...the things we learn and experience!

Arwen needs a spit mask on after having a cria so we can handle this very good, protective mother and be able to touch her baby without getting a stinky shower! Arwen doesn't usually spit otherwise.  She was much better with Cusco.

Much to our amazement and delight, Astir  is a very cooperative mom and let's us handle her baby without any problems---no spitting, no charging, etc.

Last year (2002) Arwen miscarried and Astir had a stillborn.  Not a good year for crias!
