The middle east has long been the source of hostility towards western civilization and, indeed, hostility towards all other civilization outside each fractured but seemingly identical clan. It's a hotbed for religious tension that seems to incubate extremists and hatch jihads. The term nutjob is as apropos in a conversation about middle eastern politics as it is in the pornography industry, though sadly for different reasons. In fact, were it not for difficulties in international copyright enforcement we would have to pay them royalties anytime anyone acted crazy in the name of god. Can nothing be done to stem the tide of anti-secular violence? I've been pondering this and I think I have the answer.
Due to some, perhaps unfortunate, choices on the part of the executive branch of our government Iraq is currently destabilized and very nearly in a state of civil war. We have opportunity to do some radical restructuring in the region. In 1947 a UN resolution created the Nation of Israel. Granted there have been a few hitches and hangups surrounding that bit of nation building, but I think we can learn from past mistakes and do it right this time. I propose we seize the northern region of Iraq and create, in it's place, the nation LRON of Dianetics. Followers of L. Ron Hubbard's Scientology across the globe would have a homeland, a mecca, in which they could live and worship freely (Citizens of Hollywood, CA would also be given free passport to LRON.) and the eyes and anger of the middle east would, almost overnight, shift their focus from the United States.
Join with me in supporting a UN resolution to create this new artificial nation, LRON, where Scientologists can live out their lives a land where crazy religious ideas are accepted.
