nuke Darfur
Nuke Darfur Now!

You made have heard of Darfur. In fact, if you haven't heard of it you've probably been living under a rock (where people from Darfur would live, if they had a choice). It's that place where the (most recent) genocide is going on (and on, and on...). The people of Darfur, lets call them "the victims", are being brutally killed, tortured, maimed, raped, and ...la la la la... not listening, by the hundreds of thousands. I agree with you, it`'s too painful to hear all the really creative atrocities being committed on those people. Terrifying, in fact, if you imagine that it's happening to some people's children.

And like you, I cared once. I tried to help. I signed petitions, I wrote letters, I told friends, I told my congressmen, I even donated money. But, it didn't help. It's still going on and it's still so painful to think about that if you pull up a journalist's description of what is actually happening you'll want to drink those images into oblivion with whatever cheap, former Soviet Union-esque, plastic bottle, Avtomatik Kalishnikov Vodka you can find. I mean, it's terrible, but what are you going to do?

End their pain, that's what. End their pain. It's what we had as a goal before, but we were thinking inside the box. We were thinking we could end the pain of all the genocide and torture by stopping it, and we were right. Yes, so far so good. But we tried to stop it by making the bad people take a good hard look at the problems that genocide wouldn't solve. If they understood that genocide and torture wouldn't really fix their problems they would stop, right? Not so much.

There's something we overlooked, however. It's not as elegant a solution, but what are you going to do when you find that people don't really want to become involved enough to do the right thing? I'll tell you what. If you can't do the right thing you do the next best thing. If you can't stop the genocide by stopping the killers, you stop it by stopping the killees. If there are no people left alive in Darfur then there is no one to torture, no one to maim, no one to murder, no one to rape. It's a stupid plan, but it's better than no plan at all.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true. If we aren't going to save the people of Darfur or stop the genocide then at least we can extinguish all life from the region. We'll leave it a desicated husk, a halloween decoration to scare future generations. Whenever third world countries need to dress up to for trick or treat or relief aid on October 31st they will say "Hey, let's go as Cambodia. No wait, as Darfur!', and involuntary shudders will fill the room. For less than the cost of saving people from torture, you can simply have them removed from the equation. The equation is, after all, how we make our decisions. This should be a no brainer. Nuke Darfur. End their pain.
