We are selling a CD to generate funds to help send the band back to Oaxaca in the summer of 2006. The CD is selling for $15 USD, please contact us if you are interested in owning this little slice of history. The music was recorded during a live concert in the town square (Zocalo) of Oaxaca in July, 2005.

The entire album is now available here as mp3 files. Don't worry though, you can still help support your local Oaxacan community band by buying the CD.

Liner notes:

In July 2005, Seattle's Banda Gozona went to Oaxaca to learn more about the Zapotecan music we play. This recording is one result. This outdoor concert was sponsored by the Oaxaca State Ministry of Culture and features La Banda Gozona playing with Inocencio Mena and half a dozen other Oaxacan musicians. Our thanks go to Inocencio for years of support and encouragement and especially for putting his reputation on the line to set up our visit; to Narciso Lico Carrillo for preserving and promoting the Zapotecan music tradition; to Mario, Zoilo, Benito, Sofronio and the other Oaxacan musicians who played with us; and to the family and friends of Fulgencio Lazo for their warm hospitality.

Que escuchan bien,
Bill 'Memo' Clifford, for La Banda Gozona
