Monday, April 14, 2003 The "Does My Blog Work Yet?" Friday Five! 1. What was the first band you saw in concert? Excepting solo artists, I think the first big concert I ever saw was The Moody Blues on my tenth birthday. It went sort of like this: Mom: Hey Ginger! The Moody Blues are playing on your birthday, isn't that great?! Me: Who are The Moody Blues? Mom: They're a band, and they're really great, and we can get tickets way up close, so you'll be able to see just fine. [eagerly] Do you want to go? Me: Um, OK. I remember having a good time, but it was especially entertaining to find out later that one of my mom's (married) friends ended up in bed with one of the band members, though apparently he couldn't get it up and so they "cuddled." Mom's friend wasn't very hot. The first concert I remember being super-duper excited about, to the point of near-hysteria, was seeing Talking Heads at Red Rocks during the Stop Making Sense tour. I was fourteen. 2. Who is your favorite artist/band now? I'm particularly fond of The White Stripes at the moment, but I don't know if I'd really call them my favorite band. I haven't been very obsessive over anyone in particular lately. No, not even HANSON. 3. What's your favorite song? I think "Under Pressure" by Queen/David Bowie still wins. Even after Vanilla Ice almost ruined it for everyone. 4. If you could play any instrument, what would it be? I'd love to play piano really well. 5. If you could meet any musical icon (past or present), who would it be and why? If I could be guaranteed a real conversation and not just a handshake and attitude, I'd choose Madonna circa 1989. In Truth or Dare she seemed to be a lot of fun and at an interesting place in her life. posted by Ginger | 1:33 AM |
