Friday, February 28, 2003 A Literary Friday Five! 1. What is your favorite type of literature to read (magazine, newspaper, novels, nonfiction, poetry, etc.)? I LUV magazines for trashy, no-thinking-involved reading. Does that count as "literature?" Think Entertainment Weekly, In Style, and Real Simple. I realized something was very wrong with me when I considered subscribing to a magazine with a major feature about How to Fold Things. But for non-junk reading, which I do a lot more of these days during subway rides, I choose mostly non-fiction. 2. What is your favorite novel? A difficult choice, but I think the one that moved me the most was Geek Love. 3. Do you have a favorite poem? (Share it!) Ok, from memory: A fart is a chemical substance It comes from a place called 'bum' It penetrates through the trousers And lands with a musical hum To fart, to fart - 'tis no disgrace For it brings the body ease It warms the blankets on cold winter nights And suffocates all the fleas. -- Madonna 4. What is one thing you've always wanted to read, or wish you had more time to read? The dictionary. 5. What are you currently reading? Fast Food Nation, an amazing piece of investigative journalism which is surprisingly NOT so much about the horrible things we eat, but the horrible physical, economic and environmental conditions that are created by the industry that manufactures what we eat. It simultaneously makes we want to a) never have children b) burn down every McDonalds and c) kill myself (because it's all so hopelessly corrupt, ya know). Good stuff! posted by Ginger | 5:49 PM The supertanker of superstardom has dry-docked for I-Rock Hey y'all. I know I bin buggin you about this, but as far as I understand it, this is your last day to check out I-Rock on Heavy.com. Now after all this build-up you probably won't think it's that funny. posted by Ginger | 5:15 PM Thursday, February 27, 2003 ![]() posted by Ginger | 6:33 PM Not such a beautiful day... ...but he will always be our neighbor.
