Friday, January 31, 2003 Well I'll be a Greased Jesus...It's The Friday Five! 1. As a child, who was your favorite superhero/heroine? Why? I loved Wonder Woman, given that she was, more or less, the only female superhero around (I didn't discover the X-Men and -Women for several more decades). Of the fellas, I was partial to Spider-Man and The Hulk. "Hurts Hulk's head to think. Hurts more than when whole building fall on it!" 2. What was one thing you always wanted as a child but never got? I don't think "always" really applies, since I lost interest around age 9 or so. But when I was a kid I really wanted a "Baby Alive." This battery-powered doll came with packets of "food" (God knows what was in that stuff) that you could feed the doll and it would poop out. Because of good taste and hygiene, no adult ever thought this was an appropriate gift for me. God bless them. 3. What's the furthest from home you've been? Hawaii on one side and Prague on the other. Doesn't seem that far now that I think of it -- I need to go to New Zealand or something. 4. What's one thing you've always wanted to learn but haven't yet? How to speak another language fluently. 5. What are your plans for the weekend? Besides rehearsal and a couple of shows, figure out some way to entertain my mom. The IKEA trip has probably gone by the wayside since it was way too cold in my apartment this morning (the heat is just now back on, but barely) to get motivated to do anything. posted by Ginger | 3:39 PM Thursday, January 30, 2003 Happy Family Mom's here! Mom's here! I mean literally here -- in the office, waiting for me to get finished up in the office. We need to find something fun to do tonight, and I seriously need some food. I hope they fixed the heat at my place or it will be an uncomfortable night at the apartment. Melanie's here! Melanie's here! But she's off with Brad to see La Boheme so I won't see her 'til tomorrow, at least. Yay. posted by Ginger | 6:44 PM Introducing...3XThursday 1. Do you have anything that you need to fix or replace? Right at the moment, the heater in my apartment building is out -- though that's not really my responsibility to fix... 2. What about Automotive matters? Is there anything on a car in your life that needs some mechanical loving. When was the last time you checked your oil? I haven't owned a car in years. 3. How is your computer doing? How are things digital? So what OS are you using? My computer seems to be doing pretty well. I'm just downloading the latest VirusScan online update. I occasionally consider getting DSL or cable to replace my poky dial-up (the expense prevents it). I use Windows 2000 and LOVE it. Bonus Question: If you could guest star on any animated TV show what show would you crash. There's no way I could pass up The Simpsons, but if The Oblongs were still around I'd consider that. posted by Ginger | 11:04 AM Sunday, January 26, 2003 Opening Day We're back on the boards! The new (well, old actually) show opened today to a pretty impressive house, considering we did NO publicity whatsoever. A lot were comps, but still we made enough to cover today's running costs, so could be worse. Today's show capped of a few days of activity and sleep-dep, so afterward I came home and collapsed for a 3-hour nap. Now of course I don't want to go to bed. That sleep-dep thing is an endless cycle. At some point I'll have to sleep for a solid month just to catch up. So, to recap: Friday was a day of vigorous housecleaning followed by Mike's party (thanks for the re-linking the haircut story Mike!!), then a night of vigorous...um, anyway. Then blogging and (uneventful) haircut and errands Saturday, followed by Cudgel's play -- a sprightly musical in which he had an impressive solo and lots of dancing and general cuteness in a relatively minor role. By the way, about a week ago I saw Cudgel in a TV commercial for an Internationally Humongous Corporation (which, with his onscreen appearance of approximately 0.75 seconds, will likely pay a not-insignificant amount of his bills - what a weird job!). It was totally random since I never - like, never - see TV and the few minutes it was on while I was in a restaurant waiting for my food there he was! Now, I have no idea what impact it could have had on his career -- good or bad -- I find myself thankful that his appearance was brief, since I'm not sure how I'd feel about dating "The [Internatonally Humongous Corporation] Guy." Fun to think about though. The week coming up promises to be equally, if not more, crazy. We have a board meeting coming up which I am supposed to run and am in SO many ways nowhere near ready for. And then my mom and sister come to town (yay!). My sister is moving here to become a big-time Broadway star (and why not?) and so they are driving out with Melanie's stuff, in Melanie's car, which she doesn't want to have here because it's New York, even though she'll be living a 15-minute walk from the nearest subway, and then Mom is driving the car back. To Nebraska. By herself. Oy. But in the meantime, family fun will ensue and I'm already planning a trip to IKEA in the car, and whatever Melanie planned to do with Mom here, forget it, because Mom has to help me hang the shelves in my room that I've been wanting to put up for like a year. And on top of that, my neighbor across the hall (formerly "The Roach Motel" - I haven't seen a bug there since the mercury dipped below 80 degrees) is out of town so I'm feeding the cats (besides just a neighborly thing to do, I consider it penance for last week waking her up -- and probably scaring her to death -- because the exterminator was here, I thought she had already gone to work, and I was trying to open her door with the set keys she gave me). Then another warm-up rehearsal for our cast and back into the weekly cycle of promotion/production. And where is Cudgel in all of this? Sadly, not here. He's off on a brief tour of some southeastern states, likely spending his evenings shooting crank and impregnating the local gals -- or whatever visiting prfl. actors do in those parts. I'll miss him. posted by Ginger | 9:12 PM |
