I didn't touch my computer yesterday so I didn't get to wish a very happy birthday to my dad. Happy birthday Daddy! You rock. No, seriously folks, he really does rock.
It's starting to get cool again so I had to call the gas company about figuring out why our heat won't go on. It wasn't much of a hassle, thank god, and they'll be coming over tomorrow. Now if I can just get the rest of the household to pay bills on time we'll be set. Our phone almost was cut off today.
Yesterday Nell took me to the Joyce theater in Chelsea for a dance performance by the Parsons company. I found two of the six pieces entertaining, which isn't bad for free. Their big hit--and I can see why--is "Caught," a piece featuring creative use of a strobe light and a leaping dancer. Despite a minor technical glitch, it was a lot of fun. Never underestimate a good crowd-pleasing gimmick, I say.
Now I must get out of here if I'm to make it to Manhattan today--I'm going to see if I can find the West Village restaurant that only serves peanut butter sandwiches (and other peanut butter based concoctions). Kisses to all...

Hm. Well I got the colors to work, but now there's those yucky white spaces around the cells and I can't get the title to look right. Dammit. That's what I get for trying to copy someone else's stylesheet, without really knowing anything about stylesheets. I give up. Sorry it looks so crappy, I'll keep trying to fix it...
Yesterday it took me less than 20 minutes to finish the NY Times crossword puzzle. I'm trying to get a paper every day to see how I do, though it's really sort of hopeless on Thursday and Friday (if you didn't know, it gets progressively harder throughout the week). Last week I finished Monday and Tuesday without much problem. Wednesday I got about half of it done. Who needs a job when I can work on my vocabulary and HTML skills all day?
Happy Birthday, JT!

Now Skid Row's "18 & Life" is going through my head, alternating with Tenacious D's "Double Team." There is something terribly, terribly wrong with this.
I added the last image to my mom's birthday card, a great picture of my dad and I.
Yesterday was good, except for the Yankees beating the Mariners at the last moment. The Mariners never beat anyone 14 to 3 when I'm watching. I guess I should stop watching their games if there's any hope of them going to the World Series. C'mon guys!
Anyway, yesterday was a most pleasant birthday. I woke up surprised to find that housemate Malika had set up the kitchen table with flowers, ribbons, a plate of fruit and coffee. What a sweetheart! We spent all morning (okay, afternoon--I didn't get up until 12:30) chatting & drinking coffee. Mom called and I talked to her for a while, then Alex called. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes, be it snail mail, phone or email--hugs all 'round.
Then Matthew and I met up on the F train and went to "Curry Row" (6th St.) in the East Village for some cheap Indian food. We chose a place at random that had a $6.50 dinner special. We got plenty full, though the food was only just okay. I'm still salivating over the food at Mitali, where I took my mom & stepdad when they were in town. Mmmmm...Mitali. Then we went back to Brooklyn for a couple of beers and a baseball game at the Loki Lounge. Sadly the Mariners did not come through for my birthday like they did for Keith's, but still it was a good night. Came home, went to bed, and was terrorized by a mosquito the whole night. What is up with mosquitos wanting to buzz right in your ear? Grrr.

Hey hey hey, happy birthday to me. Check out this amazing birthday card my mom made.
This is my second birthday in New York, even though I just moved here. I was in town last year with my sister Melanie to visit, see shows, and generally hang out. At the time I had no idea I'd be moving here, but I was trying to convince Melanie that she should. We just happened to find half price tickets for the brand new Broadway production of The Rocky Horror Show (starring, among others, Joan Jett and Dick Cavett) for the night of my birthday. It was especially appropriate because I was a complete Rocky Horror nerd between the ages of 10 and 16--I even celebrated my 15th birthday by taking a bunch of friends (all boys, as it happened) to the movie. Don't believe me? Check out the aforementioned birthday card.
Anyway, I just found out that the Broadway Rocky Horror will be reopening for Halloween, this time starring Sebastian Bach as Riff Raff! I so have to go. 18 and Life, baby!
I have absolutely no plans for Sunday, aside from hanging out with my friend Matthew at night. Anyone want to take me to breakfast? Oh well.
