Code Warrior

Now my firm's deadlines are notoriously short
Though I usually finish on time
But once In a while comes a project from hell
Which makes me kiss my weekends good-bye
Now some temps would assist me in programming work
But then lower profits would be seen
So I sit at my desk and I work through the night
And the pages of code fill my screen
CHO And I'll have paper spooling from the printer
Printouts spreading on the desktop and the floor
Printouts folded up on every surface around
When the program's done they will all go in the trash
When my bosses give me a program to write
There's a process that I must go through
First I flowchart the steps, then I code each routine
And I document each thing that I do
I don't know how I make it but I always survive
For the caffeine I drink would wake the dead
And it takes tons of chocolate to keep me alert
As I form subroutines in my head
CHORUS (And there's more. . . )
And when the program's finished and it is first run
I might make the compiler explode
For I've yet to develop a tried-and-true way
Of reducing the bugs in my code
I make dozens of edits in tons of routines
But the errors don't seem to get less
And the mixing of spilled coffee, notepads, and specs
Turns my office to chaotic mess
CHORUS (From all the. . .)
Now I don't object to a war with my deck
I can write program code with the best
3ut the stress of this work makes me pull out my hair
And my snacking puts pounds on my chest
Now this firm really isn't a bad place to toil
'Cause they pay me quite well for my work
But if I have to face one more 100-hour week
I will have a breakdown and go berzerk!
CHORUS (If I've got. . . )
