OK, I went for the obvious tune. But the need to fight this beast is even more obvious

These are the times that try Net souls! For in the Election Year of 1996, Congress passed and the President signed a telecommunications bill containing the vile Communications Decency Act, known as the CDA. Users, take heed my story. YOU COULD BE SUED!!

           G C
Now let me tell you a story of an act of Congress
        G D
And the shady and sneaky way
       G C
To the telecom bill they attached an amendment
     G D G
Into law signed the CDA

                 G C
CH: But will it be overturned? Pray it gets overturned
            G D
So the Bill of Rights won't burn
                G C
We'll keep posting freely on the groups of Usenet
              G D G
It's the bill that we'll overturn

Well, I fired up my Pentium to hop onto the Web
Like I do each every day
When I got there the sysop told me "Don't be indecent"
We're afraid of the CDA

Now we use PGP and we edit our pages
Asking "What will become of us?"
We cannot afford lawsuits and we don't want to make
Cybersitter censor us!!

Now the Act was tried in a Philly courtroom
Lawyers argued to their deaths (well, we could hope.)
While throughout cyberspace sprang up grass-roots efforts
In support of the EFF!!

Now you surfers on Netscape don't you think it's a scandal
When our rights are shorn away
Fight the censor's pen, beg the Supreme Court!
Help get rid of the CDA!!
