Market/Larkin Lament

by cameron m. larch

Sitting here and thinking of the life I left behind,
Wondering if thoughts of me are drifting through your mind,
Seems I tried to get ahead, but only fell behind,
And I'm wondering... Where has it all gone??

Left my home to find myself but lost myself instead,
Screaming white intensity was ripping through my head,
Finding lost and burnt out souls, but leaving them for dead,
But you realize... It's all part of the game.

Where is my forgotten yuoth, my memories of the past,
Seems that as I search for them they fade to crystal glass,
Scattered shards of broken dreams lay wasted in my path,
And I'm wondering... Will I soon be forgotten??

All this time my shattered mind, too scattered to believe,
Didn't think that I should take a break or a repreive,
Travelling at the speed of light, too numb to even grieve,
As I sacrificed my fragile sanity.
