But, what the hell. I'm in my fourth round of swing lessons (Intermediate East Coast Triple Time Swing) at the new Century Ballroom through the Swing Girls and my dance partner, none other than HTS AS, who was kind enough to get me into all of this in the first place.
If you're in the Seattle area and like to dance, don't miss open ballroom at the Century Ballroom every Friday night from 9pm - 2am. It's on the second floor of Oddfellow's hall just up from Broadway in Capitol Hill. There's an hour of introductory lessons from 8-9 which is included in the cost of admission (7 on regular nights, 10 when there's a live band). The first Friday of every month is Latin night, with primarily Salsa/Merengue, and a touch of Swing/Lindy thrown in. The second Friday of the month has live swing bands. The other Fridays in the month are a healthy mix of swing/lindy, salsa/merengue, waltz, zydeco and the like. It's worth checking out, and is a very friendly environment.
