B&B2,The 2nd Annual Lone Gunmen Memorial Bunker & Breakfast descended on West Seattle Washington the weekend of Mar 1-3, 2002. Brilliantly organized on a limited budget by Erynn Laurie and Mel White, with a superb promotional package designed by Therese Lakoff, the convention was a tribute to the late, lamented TV Series, The Lone Gunmen. When, after years of growing fan support, the three über-hackers Byers, Frohike and Langly, were finally given their own spin-off series, fan buzz was tremendous. On the 4th of March, 2001, the long-awaited (and heavily lobbied-for) series made its debut. On that day, several of the fans whose efforts had been so thrillingly rewarded, convened in a West Seattle home to celebrate the victory -- Bunker and Breakfast I had begun! In addition to celebrating the Lone Gunman, there was another purpose to the convention: to host a special screening of the Vancouver-based short feature "Tilt", written and directed by Lance Peverley and Produced by Patrick Stark. The film, a modern-day retelling of the legend of Don Quixote, stars veteran character actor John R. Taylor in the lead role of Al Kaye, and Tom Braidwood, "Mel Frohike" in both The Lone Gunmen and The X-Files, as his reluctant sidekick Sam Penzer. Other honored guests were actor Michael Roberds -- best known as "Uncle Fester" in The New Addams Family TV Series -- who plays "Steve" in "Tilt"; Rachael Taylor -- a production assistant on "The X Files" during seasons 3 and 4 -- who is 2nd Assistant Director on "Tilt"; Heidi Windebank, Assistant Location Manager on "Tilt"; and Jyotishna "Jyo" Narayan, whom alert viewers spotted as the beautiful campaign worker who smiled at Jimmy Bond's "sticky moment" in the Gunmen episode "Three Men and a Smoking Diaper". Following the screening -- the first ever outside of Canada -- the 7 guests mingled with the conventioneers, later dining out with them. The following morning, Erynn had the pleasure and privilege of giving to Peverley and Stark a check for more than $750 dollars to add to their post-production funds. Needless to say, the surprised "Tilt"ers were overwhelmed. Erynn then had the pleasure of announcing a special gift of $100 from one of our members, unable to travel from New York City. A most exciting weekend, as people who had known one another only, or primarily, through e-mail and chat rooms, finally met face to face! Whoo Hoo!
