Project IKAROS is the expression of one man's obsession with the quest to make reality that dream which has animated Man's steps for millenia; a dream given voice by a popular video production of Late-TwenCen America (q.v.) in the words:
"To boldly go where no one has gone before."

ISS At Dawn      Project IKAROS is a privately endowed corporate structure, organized, dedicated and focused to one singular purpose, expressed in this Mandate from its founder and Chairman:
"To spread the seed of Man,
and the best of the works of Man,
beyond the surface of this one world,
so as to protect Man
and the best of the works of Man,
from destruction by
the worst of the works of Man."

To this end, IKAROS sponsors a continuing Research & Development program in Astronautical disciplines, to enable, in the shortest possible time, a "colony ship" -- capable of sustaining the lives of a minimum of 5,000 human beings on an interstellar journey of no less than 1000 years duration -- to be designed, built, crewed and launched on a voyage of discovery.
NASA and the I.S.S.
There is, of course, one major Space project already under way here and now on planet Earth. Under the aegis of NASA, the nations of the Earth are engaged in the most ambitious project in the recorded history of the Human Race: the construction of the first permanently crewed facility in Earth Orbit.
Construction of the International Space Station [I.S.S.]
ISS Assemblybegan in December, 1998, with the launch to orbit by Space Shuttle"Endeavour", in the first of 45 missions over the next 5 years, of the module "Unity", which was then connected to the Russian-built power and propulsion module"Zarya".
