VIENNA - Karlskirche (St. Charles Church)   Inside Karlskirche, a beautiful baroque interior but the ceiling frescoes were obscured by scaffolding

...but for a few euros we could ride an elevator to the top ...for a rare opportunity to view the rotunda frescoes (by Rottmayr) up close

Back at the base of the cathedral, we see an organ concert is about to begin, but look who shows up... A dozen riot police vans pull up in front of the cathedral entrance The 'storm troopers' put on their riot gear - while the local concertgoers (far right) pay them no mind

The cathedral seemed to be surrounded by riot police Ray and Scott try to look cool while the storm troopers patrol the area The reason for the storm troopers: a regularly recurring neo-nazi protest passes the cathedral
